HOMEMADE TOMATO SAUCE FROM FRESH TOMATOES

Fresh tomato sauce to enjoy all year round? COUNT. ME. IN.

X MARKS THE SPOT

mark an X on the top of each tomato using a sharp knife (no need to peel or core)

MAKE AN ICE BATH

by adding ice cubes and cold water to a large bowl

the tomatoes in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes then immediately transfer to the ice bath

PEEL, PEEL, PEEL

the tomatoes - the skin and top of the core should come right off

PUREE, PUREE, PUREE

until you reach your desired consistency (leave it as chunky or as smooth as you want it!)

TRANSFER, TRANSFER, TRANSFER

to a jar with fresh basil with a tight fitting 2 piece lid. Secure.

TO CAN

put in a pot, fill with cold water, bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover for 20-30 minutes until the lids seal

WHEN READY TO EAT/USE/COOK

add desired spices and seasonings (swipe up for ideas!) and simmer for a minimum of 30 minutes or until the sauce thickens
