You control the ingredients. NO added crap.

ADD, ADD, ADD

all of the ingredients (except the cornstarch and water) to a bowl

WHISK, WHISK, WHISK

until everything is nice and well combined

MAKE, MAKE, MAKE

a slurry by mixing cornstarch and water together then stirring it into the sauce

HEAT, HEAT, HEAT

the sauce up on the stove for a few minutes - this step is optional but it helps thicken it

Store bought hoisin sauce, who?!
