Ingredients
FOR THE FILLING
6mediumApplespeeled, cored, and sliced
1tbspLemon Juice
¼cupHoney or Maple Syrup
1tspGround Cinnamon
FOR THE TOPPING
1cupAlmond Flour
½cupWalnuts or Pecanschopped
¼cupCoconut Oilmelted, plus more for greasing
2tbspHoney or Maple Syrup
1tspGround Cinnamon
Ice Cream,Whipped Cream, or Caramel Sauce*optional, for serving
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 baking dish with a bit of coconut oil.
In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, honey or maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Spread the apple mixture evenly into the greased baking dish.
In another bowl, mix almond flour, chopped nuts, melted coconut oil, honey or maple syrup, and cinnamon to create the topping.
Sprinkle the topping over the apples in the baking dish.
Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. Allow it to cool slightly before serving with some whipped cream, caramel sauce or a scoop or two of ice cream, if desired.
