Servings 2Cups
Ingredients
5Pears
2tbspWater
1tspLemon Juice
½tspVanilla Extract
½tspCinnamon
¼tspGinger
¼tspNutmeg
Instructions
Peel the pears (if desired) and cut them into even sized chunks.
Add them to a large pot along with the remaining ingredients.
Give them a good stir.
Allow the water to come to a boil over high heat then reduce the heat to medium low.
Cook (uncovered) until the pears are soft, about 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Use an immersion blender, regular blender or food processor to puree the pears to your desired consistency* You can leave some pear chunks in it, if you'd like. Or you can puree them completely until no chunks remain and the entire sauce is smooth.
If not using right away, allow the pear sauce to cool completely then transfer it to containers or jars where you can store it for up to a week in the fridge or 3 months in the freezer.
Notes
Make sure the sauce has cooled down before transferring it to a blender or food processor. If using an immersion blender, there is no need to let it cool and you can blend it directly in the pot.
