Cranberry Gin Fizz Recipe

Jump to Recipe

This cranberry gin fizz recipe is everything you want in a refreshing cocktail. It’s crisp, bubbly, lightly tart, and comes together in about five minutes with just a handful of ingredients.

Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, relaxing on the patio, or adding something special to your holiday table, this cranberry gin fizz fits right in. Tart cranberry juice, fragrant rosemary, fresh orange, and botanical gin come together in a cocktail that’s bright, refreshing, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. Served over plenty of ice with a splash of sparkling water, every sip is crisp, bubbly, and seriously satisfying.

I love serving this cranberry gin fizz with burrata bruschetta or ricotta and hot honey crostini when friends come over. For a festive holiday spread, it would be right at home alongside cauliflower stuffing and turkey wings, while its crisp, bubbly finish still keeps it light enough for warm weather entertaining.

  • Guaranteed to impress. The ruby red colour, fresh rosemary, and juicy cranberries make every glass look as good as it tastes.

What You’ll Need

Ingredients for a cranberry gin fizz including gin, cranberry juice, sparkling water, orange, rosemary, ice, and a shot of gin.

You only need a handful of simple ingredients to make this crisp and refreshing cranberry gin fizz. Here’s what you’ll need:

Helpful Tips for the Best Cranberry Gin Fizz

  • Use plenty of ice. A well-filled glass keeps the cocktail cold without watering it down too quickly.
  • Fresh orange makes a difference. A squeeze of fresh orange juice adds brightness and balances the tart cranberry beautifully.
  • Chill your ingredients first. Cold gin, cranberry juice, and sparkling water help keep the drink crisp and bubbly longer.
  • Add the sparkling water last. Pour it in gently to preserve those refreshing bubbles.
  • Garnish just before serving. Fresh rosemary and cranberries make the cocktail look beautiful while adding a subtle festive aroma.

One of the best things about this cranberry gin cocktail is how easy it is to customize. Here are a few delicious ways to make it your own:

  • Use flavoured gin: A citrus or berry-infused gin adds another layer of flavour without any extra effort.
  • Make it alcohol-free: Skip the gin and replace it with a non-alcoholic botanical spirit or extra sparkling water for a refreshing mocktail everyone can enjoy.
  • Add festive garnishes: Fresh thyme, sage, cinnamon sticks, or orange slices all make beautiful garnishes depending on the season.

The bright, bubbly flavours of a cranberry gin fizz make it an easy cocktail to pair with just about any menu. It complements creamy cheeses, savory appetizers, roasted poultry, and fresh seasonal dishes, making it just as fitting for summer entertaining as it is for holiday celebrations.

Here are a few of my favourite pairings:

  • Charcuterie boards with a mix of cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruit, nuts, and crackers.
  • Seafood appetizers like coconut shrimp, smoked salmon crostini, or crab stuffed mushrooms.
  • Roasted turkey or chicken, especially for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Sunday dinner.
  • Roasted vegetables and stuffing for a cozy holiday meal.
  • Grilled chicken or salmon with fresh salads for an easy summer dinner.
  • Light desserts like shortbread cookies, citrus tarts, or vanilla cheesecake to finish the meal.

Yes! Mix the gin, cranberry juice, and orange juice ahead of time and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. Add the sparkling water and ice just before serving to keep the cocktail light and fizzy.

A classic London Dry gin works beautifully because its botanical notes complement the tart cranberry and fresh rosemary. If you prefer a softer flavour, a citrus-forward gin is another great choice.

Absolutely. Simply replace the gin with a non-alcoholic botanical spirit or extra sparkling water for a refreshing mocktail that’s just as festive.

That depends on the cranberry juice you use. A cranberry juice cocktail creates a sweeter drink, while 100% cranberry juice gives it a brighter, tarter flavour. You can always adjust the sweetness with a splash of simple syrup if you’d like.

Yes! This recipe is easy to scale up for parties and holiday gatherings. Mix everything except the sparkling water ahead of time, then add the bubbles just before serving so every glass stays perfectly fizzy.

Fresh rosemary and cranberries are a classic combination, but orange slices, thyme sprigs, or even a cinnamon stick make beautiful garnishes depending on the season.

Ingredients

  • ice
  • 2 oz London dry gin
  • 1.5 oz cranberry juice
  • 1.5 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup (optional, see notes)
  • 3 oz sparkling water (or club soda)
  • fresh cranberries (for garnish)
  • fresh rosemary sprig (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Add ice to a cocktail shaker, then pour in the gin, cranberry juice, orange juice, and simple syrup.
  2. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until well chilled.
  3. Strain into an ice filled highball glass, then top with the club soda.
  4. Garnish with fresh cranberries and a sprig of rosemary. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh orange juice for the brightest flavour. Bottled juice won’t taste quite as fresh.
Chill your ingredients before mixing so the cocktail stays cold and refreshing without melting too much ice.
Add the sparkling water last and stir gently to keep the bubbles light and fizzy.
Taste before serving. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, use cranberry juice cocktail or add a splash of simple syrup.
Serve immediately. This cocktail is best enjoyed fresh while it’s cold and bubbly. Leftovers will lose their fizz over time.
The sweetness of this cocktail will vary depending on the type of cranberry juice you use. If you’re using a tart 100% cranberry juice, add the optional simple syrup to balance the flavours. If you’re using a sweetened cranberry juice cocktail, you may not need it. Taste and adjust to your preference.
To make simple syrup: Stir together equal parts sugar and hot water until the sugar dissolves. Let cool before using. Alternatively, simmer equal parts sugar and water until dissolved, then cool completely before storing in the fridge.
