Veggie supreme pizza is all about going big on the toppings without needing a speck of meat. This one piles mushrooms, peppers, red onion, and black olives over plenty of melty mozzarella for that classic pizzeria-style slice.
There’s a little bit of everything happening here. Savoury mushrooms, sweet bell peppers, punchy red onion, briny olives, bubbling cheese, and a golden crust that stays crisp underneath all those veggies. It feels properly loaded, but every topping belongs there, which is exactly what I want from a supreme pizza.
For a full-on homemade pizza night, start with my homemade pizza dough and no-cook pizza sauce. Add a fresh arugula salad on the side, and you’ve got yourself one seriously solid dinner.

✳︎ Why You’ll Love This Veggie Supreme Pizza
- Loaded in all the right ways. Mushrooms, two kinds of bell peppers, red onion, and black olives give every slice plenty of colour, texture, and classic supreme-pizza flavour.
- Cheesy without burying the veggies. Two cups of mozzarella give you that bubbly, melty finish while still letting the vegetable toppings do their thing.
- No sad meatless pizza here. This one is hearty, satisfying, and stacked enough that you won’t be wondering where the pepperoni went.
- Made for pizza night. Familiar toppings and straightforward prep make this a homemade veggie pizza you’ll actually want to put into regular rotation.
- Easy to make your own. Keep the classic combination as is or toss on a few pepperoncini, extra mushrooms, or your favourite finishing touches.
What Is a Veggie Supreme Pizza?
A veggie supreme pizza is a vegetarian spin on the classic supreme, loaded with a mix of complementary vegetable toppings rather than the usual combination of meat and veggies. This version sticks to the pizzeria favourites: mushrooms, green and red bell peppers, red onion, and black olives, all layered with pizza sauce and plenty of mozzarella.
What Makes It “Supreme”?
“Supreme” is really about the toppings. Instead of featuring just one or two, a supreme pizza brings several together for more flavour and texture in every bite. Here, savory mushrooms, crisp, sweet peppers, sharp red onion, and briny black olives create that loaded supreme feel, no pepperoni or sausage required.
Veggie Supreme Pizza Toppings

The best veggie supreme pizza toppings are the ones that give you a little bit of everything in each bite. For this pizza, that means cremini mushrooms, green and red bell peppers, red onion, and black olives, along with pizza sauce and plenty of mozzarella. It’s a classic combination that feels loaded without turning your crust into a vegetable free-for-all.
The Classic Topping Combination
Cremini mushrooms bring a savoury, earthy bite, while green and red bell peppers add crunch, sweetness, and plenty of colour. Thinly sliced red onion gives the pizza a sharper edge, and black olives bring that salty, briny contrast that just belongs on a supreme.
Add melty mozzarella and your favourite pizza sauce underneath, and you’ve got a solid lineup of vegetable pizza toppings where everything actually works together. Slice the veggies fairly thin so they soften in the oven without weighing down the crust.
Optional Add-Ins
Want to load it up a little more? Homemade sun-dried tomatoes add a punchy pop of rich tomato flavour, while spinach, artichoke hearts, or extra mushrooms can bulk up the veggies. Just resist piling on all the extras at once. A little restraint helps the crust stay crisp and lets those classic supreme toppings shine.
Helpful Tips for the Best Veggie Supreme Pizza
- Keep those veggies on the thinner side. Thinly sliced mushrooms, peppers, and red onion have enough time to soften during the short bake without weighing down the crust or staying too crunchy.
- Watch the moisture. Mushrooms naturally release water as they cook, so avoid using any that feel especially wet. They go onto this pizza raw, but you can sauté them for 4 to 5 minutes first if yours are particularly moist or you’re worried about ending up with a soggy veggie pizza.
- Don’t pile the toppings too high. A loaded veggie pizza is the goal, but there is such a thing as too loaded. An even layer gives the vegetables room to cook and helps the center of the crust crisp up properly.
- Give your oven plenty of time to get hot. A properly preheated oven, and pizza stone if you’re using one, gives the dough a head start toward a crisp pizza crust rather than a soft, doughy bottom.
- Let the pizza tell you when it’s ready. Look for bubbling, melted mozzarella and a golden brown crust around the edges. Those are much better cues than relying on the timer alone.

Easy Variations
- Roasted Vegetable Pizza. Swap the raw veggies for roasted ones when you want deeper, slightly caramelized flavour. Just make sure any roasted vegetables are well drained before adding them since extra moisture can soften the crust.
- Vegan Veggie Supreme Pizza. Turn this into a vegan pizza by swapping the mozzarella for your favourite dairy-free pizza cheese. Everything else can stay the same, just double check that your pizza dough and sauce are vegan too.
- Extra Cheesy Veggie Lover’s Pizza. For a seriously cheesy veggie lover’s pizza, add an extra handful of mozzarella over the vegetables before baking. You can also replace a portion of the mozzarella with provolone for a little more sharpness while keeping that gooey, loaded veggie pizza feel. What to Serve With Veggie Supreme Pizza
This loaded veggie pizza is plenty satisfying on its own, but a fresh garden salad, garlic bread, or a few crispy appetizers such as my hot honey ricotta crostini make great additions when you want to round out the meal. Storage and Reheating
Store leftover veggie pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If you’re stacking slices, slip a piece of parchment paper between them to keep the toppings where they belong.
For the best leftover crust, reheat slices in a skillet over medium low heat or pop them into a hot oven or air fryer until the cheese is melty and the bottom crisps back up. The microwave works in a pinch, but you’ll lose some of that crispy crust.
